This course is designed to provide educators with the background knowledge and skills necessary to ground future professional learning experiences in the best practices of environmental education.

This course will provide you with a foundation of the knowledge, theories, evidence and interdisciplinary research on the important link between nature and human wellness. Throughout the course, you will be introduced to the science of our interconnection with the natural world, and receive an overview of the emerging field of studies indicating the important role nature plays in the healthy development of the whole child (physical, mental and behavioral) and their continued wellness into adulthood.

Welcome to Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) in environmental education (EE) Course. This course was developed through a partnership between the Center for Diversity and the Environment, EcoInclusive, Environmental Educators of North Carolina, Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education, Kentucky Association for Environmental Education, and Youth Outside. MEEA has adapted this course, with permission, for Missouri educators.
This course is designed to provide a strong foundation in the language, concepts and principles of equity work. It is meant to be an introductory course and spark interest in further learning around justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
